Sydney is a harbour city with extensive waterways, bays and rivers. Watson's Bay is Sydney most picturesque place. Originally it was an old fishing village on the southern peninsula. When you get off the ferry, go for a walk up to South Head, On your way there, you'll find Camp Cove, the spot where the first fleet, Australia's first European settlers stopped. If you continue your walk to South you will find the Signal Station and Macquarie Lighthouse.
The path leading to North will take you to The Gap, Naval Base, Sydney Harbour National Park, beaches (nude Lady Beach) and Hornsby Lighthouse. Visit Vaucluse House, set on ten hectares, it's the oldest house museum in Australia.
